General description

This book exam is focused on the history of Internet and Game Studies.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course a student is expected to be able to:

-be familiar with the history of new media in the selected area of specialization
-read and analyse independently scientific and scholarly literature
-understand the special characteristics and evolution of Internet and Game Studies
-evaluate and synthetize research literature

Contents

In this course students carry out independent study projects on various subfields in the history of interactive media and games, such as the history of communication technologies, media history, the emergence of hacker culture, history of the Internet and World Wide Web, history of digital games, board games’ histories, the histories of games in different countries, the evolution of game industry, the emergence of game genres.
