Learning outcomes

After completing the module the student has the skills to plan her or his own research. She or he knows how to formulate research questions, gather data and use the different methods in its analysis. She or he also has an idea of the epistemological commitments of her or his work and of how the own research is situated within the wider research field.

Contents

The lectures will give an introduction to the epistemological starting points and perspectives offered by the different schools of thought into the study of communication. The practical work will familiarize the student with the research of visual data especially, for example by learning the different methodologies. The workshop work will be designed to intertwine with the students Master’s thesis.

Teaching methods

Lectures (20 hrs) and workshops and literature studies for groups of about 12—14 students (30 hrs). A module that lasts for two study periods and will be integrated into the seminar.
