General description

Timing: to be taken simultaneously with the Bachelor’s thesis/seminar, in connection with substance teaching. See the teaching schedule of your major subject.

Learning outcomes

Students learn systematic and topical information seeking on their own field and learn to use the skills in their own work. Students master the conceptual structuring of their information need and the formation of keywords. They can evaluate different sources and their quality, and are familiar with reference tools.

Contents

-conceptual structuring of the student’s information need
-information sources and structure of the student’s field and major subject
-information retrieval methods: systematic information seeking process and strategies
-extensive information seeking in the student’s own research area and analysis of the results
-becoming familiar with references and reference tools, their use in the production of scientific texts
-evaluation of data and ethics in the use of information
