Learning outcomes

The course provides the basic knowledge and ability to implement a typical WWW application.

Contents

The course subjects are studied using the PHP language and the Java servlet technology. The basics of these technologies. Server-client architecture of a WWW application. Cookies. Sessions. Authentication. Browser programming techniques Javascript and Java applets. Security matters. Architectural and maintainability aspects. Implementation of the application's database layer. Transaction design. View-layer implementation methods. (for both PHP and Java servlets).

The materials are available in English, and so are the assignments. The lectures are given in Finnish using slides that are in English.
