General description
The course aims to provide the student with English professional writing competencies needed in working life.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to • understand and apply the basics of written communication in their work • write documents related to work life professional writing • use appropriate terminology of their professional field • follow the conventions of academic and professional written communication • consider cultural aspects in professional writing
Contents
The course will cover typical professional writing tasks in working life (e.g. emails, memos, proposals, applications and reports). Effective writing style will be considered with respect to varying cultures and media.
Teaching methods
The average student workload for a 2 credit course is 54 hours (2 x 27). The distribution of hours between classwork, tutorials, online work and other independent work will vary.
