The minimum prerequisite is A1 level skills from comprehensive school or B3 level skills from upper secondary school. Preferably the studies of A1 or B1 language from upper secondary school. (B1 level of language competence) Any lower starting level requires hard work.
The text part is intended for students who need practice in reading academic texts. This course aims to improve skills for faculty study modules and other studies.
Learning outcomes
After completing this study module, students will - be able to read clearly written academic texts better than before - recognise the essential clue words identifying the text - be able to parse complex sentences - be able to deduce meanings of words - be able to use dictionaries

- Select excerpts from academic texts - Text structure and reading strategies - Hint words identifying texts - Parsing complex sentences - Deducing meanings of words based on word structure and context - Word formation - Ambiguity of words and dictionary usage Text analysis and other written exercises, complementary external studies and independent study.
