Learning outcomes

To provide students with the facilities to spot and solve any problems related to document translation. To familiarise students with legal responsibility and the regulations, instructions and reference books of their own field, and to provide them with skills to produce legally valid translations.

Contents

Introduction to German law and decrees, and to authority rules. Contrastive inspection and systemic interpretation of Finnish and German (Austrian, Swiss) documents, the methods of official translating, use of sources, drawing up translations as case exercises, processing translations in seminars and producing an acceptable corrected version.

Modes of study

Active participation in the seminar and exercises.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Numeric 1-5.
Grade based on exercises.
