Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course unit, the student will have a thorough understanding of the principles of scientific research and good scientific practice. The student will be able to formulate a research project, compose a research plan, search for appropriate research literature, and acquire suitable research data. The student will be able to interpret and produce scientific texts, as well as collect, organise, and analyse their research data. Additionally, the student will be able to present their research both orally and in written form, discuss the research constructively, and assess it using scientific argumentation. The student will be able to comprehend their degree (Master of Arts) as a whole and to prepare for their transition into working life.

Contents

During the MA Thesis Seminar, the student will develop an understanding of their field of study, stages of the research process, data acquisition, good scientific practice, and the principles of scientific discussion and research reporting. During the MA Thesis Seminar, the student will compose a Master's thesis research plan and complete the required seminar work. Furthermore, the student will assess the work of another student, as well as provide comments on the research proposals and seminar work of the other students. The goal is for the student to produce a Master's thesis during the Thesis Seminar course unit. The seminar will also include participation in the personal study plan (HOPS) academic counselling for Master's students.
