The purpose of the introduction course is to familiarize students with key concepts, traditions and theories of North-American Studies, all with a focus on the political system.

Contents
NAM-1 requirements are divided into three compulsory parts:
NAM - 1 a Introduction course (taught annually I or II period) 3 ECTS
NAM - 1 b Written assignments on a topic arranged with the teacher of the introduction course 2 ECTS
NAM – 1 c North American Studies Guest Lectures 2 ECTS
Students attend 10 guest lecture concerning North American issues and write a learning diary on them. The maximum length for reflection on one lecture is 1 page. Each lecture will be marked on a guest lecture form (available at the North American Studies). The learning diary (when completed with 10 entries of lecture)and the form will be handed to the program coordinator.
