General description
This course is designed to develop students’ communicative skills in various academic forums.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course the students:
- can read, analyze and summarize academic texts - can communicate the findings of academic texts - can present, defend and argue ones position on academic issues - can articulate ones research and area of expertise in accordance to appropriate academic conventions both in the writing of an academic abstract and an oral presentation - can perform as a chairperson, opponent, and participant in an academic seminar - can interact with individuals of various cultural backgrounds on social and global issues

Modes of study
Participants are required to attend all classes and actively participate in the activities. If absent for a class be prepared to give a 5 minute presentation at the beginning of the next class. Students will be asked to keep a learner journal which should be submitted midway in the course and then at the end of the course.
Evaluation
and evaluation criteria
Numeric 1-5.
Students are expected to show an improvement in their ability to express themselves and will be evaluated both continuously and in a final test.
