Learning outcomes

By completing this course the student knows essential information retrieval models and is able to assess their strengths. The student knows typical methods of automatic document clustering and classification. The student knows typical methods of searching, recommending and personalization in social media. The student is able to use and assess tools implementing such methods.

Contents

Queries and user interfaces. Retrieval models: Boolean model and fuzzy Boolean model, vector space model, classical probabilistic model, language model and fuzzy string matching. Classification and clustering methods. Social searching and personalization methods.
