VTEKS105 New Interaction Techniques 5 ECTS

General description

Interaction technologies and techniques are one of the most active research themes in the department. The course serves as a general introduction to the field and provides examples of research in selected interaction technologies. It is recommended as a prerequisite for special courses that deal in more detail with some technologies, and also for the course on implementation of new interaction techniques.

Learning outcomes

After this course the student has an overview of some active research themes in interactive technology. Students are able to relate new research results into past research in the field. The exam is based on the lectures and selected research articles. The objective is to develop reading skills that are later needed for the Master's thesis, in addition to providing an overview of the themes covered.

Contents

The course introduces some new interaction techniques, technologies, and environments. The topics of the lectures include gaze-based interaction, tangible user interfaces, and large and small displays. In addition, a fourth topical theme may be included.
