Learning outcomes

The aim is to familiarise students with scientific literature and how to find it, scientific writing, conducting research and issues of research ethics.

Contents

In this course students practise scientific writing and conducting research. The different stages and problems of the research process will be dealt with in the lectures as the research process advances. Separate course can be arranged for students with different areas of specialisation.

Lectures will be given in Finnish, but it is possible to take the course also in English. Ask lecturer about the details.

Modes of study

Students conduct a research project for practise purposes and report on it, and complete other assignments. The research conducted in the course will qualify as a Bachelor's thesis for the B.Sc. degree. In this case the student must also write the maturity essay.

Further information

Maturity exam is a compulsory part of the course for computer science and interactive technology majors. They will receive credits in the student register according to their major subject as either TKOPA901 or VTEKA901 B. Sc. thesis. Others will receive credits as TKOPA13 Thesis Course.
