Learning outcomes

After completing the course a student is expected to be able to:

-be familiar with the methods of knowledge organization and their historical development
-master the basic concepts of cataloguing, classification and document representation
-be familiar with methods of knowledge organization both in digital environments and in library systems and databases
-analyze the background philosophies of knowledge organization methods
-be familiar with the theoretical foundations and ideas regarding knowledge organization.

Documentation, document representation, knowledge organization, classification systems, cataloguing, metadata, tagging, folksonomies, recommendation systems, personal information management.
