General description

This course gives information and basic tools for Japanese Business and Business cultures.

Learning outcomes

The objective of the course is to illustrate the reasons, forms, speed and various consequences of Japan's economic growth since World War II and especially since 60’s. Another objective is get the students acquainted with the Japanese management and leadership styles and their differencies compared to the Western styles.

Contents

The course describes the Japanese economy as a gigantic and varied market place. First, the macro structure and foreign trade are considered and then the role of the public sector in the economy is exactly explained through different approaches and operating modes. The corporate sector and consumer's sector are studied from the perspective of being potential customers for foreign companies by using data and other information. And, finally, the Japanese business culture is emphasized in the course.
