Learning outcomes

Students learn the key events and concepts in Finnish-Russian relations and develop an ability to detect the dynamics of continuity and change in international relations between Finland and Russia.

Contents

Finnish-Russian relations in a historical perspective (from 1809 to the present day); the autonomous Grand Duchy’s policies on Russia, the period of independent statehood, Finnish-Russian relations in the multilateral EU context.

The course is open for all RES students (international relations students have primacy), course is held in connection to spring school in Petrozavodsk (2014) and autumn school (2014) in St. Petersburg
