Learning outcomes

The student will have a sound understanding of the concepts of crisis management, civil crisis management, the new contexts relevant to research and the nature of crisis management in the public sector. The student will understand the types of crisis, consequences of crisis, the relationships between military crisis management and civil crisis management, the concepts and meaning of human security and human rights in crisis management.
- The student will understand the implications of the EU security strategies and civil crisis management missions, capacity building, democracy, and the principles and strategies of counter terrorism.

Contents

Themes: concepts and theories on crisis management, civil crisis management, human security, the EU crisis coordination arrangements, threat assessments and intelligence exchange, capacity building programmes, and counter terrorism strategies and cooperation.
