Learning outcomes

The student will be thoroughly familiar with his/her field of specialization and the most important research traditions in peace and conflict studies.

Contents

- Selection of relevant literature focusing on relevant research traditions in peace & conflict studies (agreed individually with supervisors)
- Relevant courses organized in the University of Tampere (also from Specialized studies section of the PEACE programme)
- Visiting lectures at the University of Tampere
- Courses taken from Åbo Akademi University, Vaasa

Students with specialization in Peace and Conflict Research, History or Psychology: The mode of study will be tailored for each student.

Students with specialization in Social Anthropology: an essay based on literature agreed with the master’s thesis supervisor OR lecture course or seminar work agreed with the master’s thesis supervisor.

Students with specialization in International Relations: students complete the course unit POLKVS33 Rauhan- ja konfliktintutkimus (10 ECTS) - Peace and Conflict Research (10 ECTS)

Students with specialization in Administrative Science: students complete the course units HALTUS21 Security governance (5 ECTS) and HALTUS22 Crisis management (5 ECTS) from Administrative Science.
