To acquire the basic facilities required for academic writing.

Contents

Using the search engines and electronic databases of the Tampere University library and other academic libraries; the central functions of Microsoft Word important to academic writing. The basics of academic writing: quoting and reference techniques, summarising, drawing up a bibliography (by using the Finnish guide "Tutkielmantekijän opas"); using the faculty document base in Word.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Pass/fail.
Evaluation by participation in exercises and by final project following written guidelines.
