Learning outcomes

To produce stylistically and linguistically correct German texts; to analyse and accurately translate demanding Finnish texts; to gain knowledge of the structural differences of Finnish and German; to learn to use translator's tools effectively.

Contents

Producing translations of difficult texts (e.g. editorial, book review, academic texts, fiction) and correcting/working on assignments.

Modes of study

Class participation, homework and correcting them, two translation tests.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Numeric 1-5.
Evaluation by regular participation, at least nine home translations, two translation tests and level of linguistic skills.
