Learning outcomes
To provide conceptual and theoretical tools that shed light on how the interaction of great and small powers has historically shaped the northern European region; to apply the conceptual and theoretical tools to the contemporary context where supranational integration and regionalization both at the interstate and sub-state level challenge traditional great and small power dynamics; to provide necessary pre-requisites for students to assess and examine international dynamics in Europe’s north independently.
Contents
Northern Europe as a research object, IR approaches to Northern Europe, history of the region from the Pre-Cold War Era to the Post-Cold War Era, EU as northern Europe’s main geopolitical subject, case studies on the relations between the region’s great and small powers, prospects for regionalization.
