KKJA1A1 BEGINNERS' JAPANESE COURSE I 3 ECTS

For students who have not previously studied Japanese.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students will
- understand and be able to produce simple general language in spoken and written forms
- be able to cope with easy and simple communication situations
- be able to tell about themselves and about their surroundings in for example Finland with simple sentences
- be able to read and write the Japanese hiragana and katakana syllabograms

Contents

- grammar will be taught from the course book and from handouts, and there will be various structure exercises (e.g. oral communication and discussion, text and listening comprehensions and producing short texts)
- familiarisation with the Japanese lifestyle and culture
- Finland-related vocabulary and various exercises concerning Finland, in addition to the Japan-related exercises

Numeric 1-5.
The grade is based on a written final exam, an essay to be returned at the exam, and regular and active class participation.
