Learning outcomes

The student recognizes the different policy approaches explained in research literature (resolution, settlement, mitigation, etc.) and can use these in the analysis and interpretation of conflict processes. The student can produce in-depth knowledge of a specific conflict or a conflict formation.

Contents

Lectures (8 h) introduce the student to different policy approaches as identified in research literature and discuss them in the context of protracted international conflicts and their resolution processes. The empirical conflicts in focus vary annually.

Practicum papers (workshops, 16 h) rehearse interpretation to identity approaches and discourses. Literature studies (2 ECTS, included in the total of 5 ECTS) support paper-writing and are agreed individually with each student.
