Learning outcomes

Students will learn about the impact of globalization, digitalization and convergence on media industries and the challenges these pose for media management today. Particular emphasis will stress the internet and its governance today.

Contents

After completing the course the student will understand:

• History of international communication and its regulation
• Media in the context of development and globalization
• The internet and its governance today
• The impact of digitalization on media firms and industries
• Management challenges and requirements in the context of convergence
• Implications for change management in strategic thinking
• Diversity management as a dimension of globalization

Lectures from visiting Docent Prof. Wolfgang Kleinwächter from the University of Aarhus, Denmark, with assigned readings and an essay.
