Learning outcomes

The aim is that the student will have a general picture of the formation processes of the northern countries and societies, and their international links.

Contents

The unit explores the Swedish and Russian contest for supremacy in the Baltic region in the 17th and 18th centuries, the position of the Baltic provinces and Finland, their participation in the emerging world economy, and the different ways of organising societies in the region.
