After completing the course the student will be able to - locate social psychiatric research in the domain of public health research - describe the present state of two specific fields in social psychiatry - discuss current challenges and action plans for local and global mental health promotion - describe the Finnish system for tertiary prevention of mental disorders or the corresponding system in the country of the student’s origin - find information about NGOs in the mental health domain and be able to describe the input of these in mental health promotion

Lecture, group/individual work in the Moodle learning environment, the student will also participate in a relevant congress, seminar or the like (with teacher approval) or make a learning diary of material agreed with the teacher.
The course will be completed entirely in the Moodle learning environment (Learning2).

Organized non-stop. For approval all the assignments have to be completed within a six months from the date of enrollment. The quota for Open University students each Academic Year is 3.
