Learning outcomes

To provide a systematic introduction to the description of English grammar and usage, and to familiarise students with the terminology used in standard reference works.

Contents

Half of this course concentrates on the English verb, particularly on tense, aspect and modality. The other half deals with aspects of the noun phrase, with particular emphasis on article usage.
Classes include lectures and follow-up tutorials where questions based on the lectures and on the course book are discussed.
