An introductory course on social psychiatry.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student will be able to
- locate social psychiatric research in the domain of public health research
- describe the present state of two specific fields in social psychiatry
- discuss current challenges and action plans for local and global mental health promotion
- describe the Finnish system for tertiary prevention of mental disorders or the corresponding system in the country of the student’s origin
- find information about NGOs in the mental health domain and be able to describe the input of these in mental health promotion

Current issues in social psychiatric research
Ethical considerations of mental health promotion
Communicating mental health issues to diverse populations
