Learning outcomes

After this course students will be familiar with the central aspects of translation analysis and argumentation, and able to assess their applicability in writing their pro gradu theses.

Contents

Analysing and assessing Finnish and English texts on translation, according to the list of background reading separately stated at the beginning of the course. As a practical exercise, each student will finally analyse one article on translation theory in accordance with specific instructions. It is recommended that students take this course just before writing their theses or during that time.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Numeric 1-5.
Grade based on the results of analyses on translation theory articles.
