Learning outcomes

To understand the theoretical basis of public expenditures and taxes. To understand the proper role of the public sector in modern market economy.

Contents

The role of the public sector in the allocation of resources.
The role of the public sector in the reallocation of resources.
The tools of microeconomics in the study of public sector economics (microeconomic policy). Taxes, social security, pensions, medical care, education, welfare state. Economics of the environment. Poverty and inequality.
