Learning outcomes

To provide an overview on models of text data, of the representation of a document with the help of grammar and of markup languages; to familiarise students with the basic methods and evaluation of XML retrieval.

Contents

The course topics include models of text data and the description languages of a document, especially XML; types of XML databases and the methods of indexing and information retrieval in document oriented databases; problems of XML retrieval and research from an evaluative viewpoint.
