General description

Course deals with the models and practices of organization analysis and organizational development.

Learning outcomes

After attending the course a student
1 is able to approach organizations from different theoretical and practical development perspectives
2 knows different traditions, current schools, and different practical approaches on the issue of organizational development
3 understands the most important laws in organizational dynamics and organizational change

1 Organizational structures, and basics of organizational design
2 Meaning and use of organization theory in organizational development
3 Organizational development: traditions and schools
4 Organizational development in practice: models, fads, and tools
5 Organisaatiot monimutkaisina systeemeinä ja niiden muutosdynamiikka
6 Change dynamics of organizations as complex systems

Lectures (20 h) with attached reading material, or a Web Course.

Finnish, English

Modes of study

Lectures (2 ECTS) can be completed by participation and by taking an exam. Web Course can be completed by passing the course.

Books (4 ECTS) can be completed by taking an exam or by writing one or two essays in English (total amount of pages about 15 pages).
