The module provides students with a basic understanding of the role of methodology in research and introduces the range of research methods from ethnography to network analysis. The students learn about the epistemological and ontological dimensions of research and the relations between theories, methods and research materials. They identify methodological differences of various research traditions as well as different interest of knowledge that guide the research.
Different research methods are introduced and discussed together on the basis of the lectures and chosen literature. The student groups will be provided case studies or similar challenges to try out the taught methods on previously chosen material.
