The students will increase their understanding about theory, policy and practice of education in developing countries with a particular reference to challenges to and prospects of education.
Type or level of studies: Intermediate/Advanced studies
Content: The course draws attention to policies and practices related to the provision of education in developing countries by examining the relationship between education and social and economic development. The students will explore intricacies regarding policy formation and their subsequent implementation at local and regional level particularly in the developing world. The discussions will focus on impediments related to the realization of educational targets from basic literacy through language of instruction to employability of educational products.
Modes of Study: Lectures, an individual or pair presentation of an article, and a learning diary (for students at intermediate level) or an essay (for students at advanced level).
Information on selected reading related to the topic will be provided in the beginning of the course.
