Learning outcomes

The course in specially designed for international students who wish to know more about the Finnish society and culture. The main purpose is to introduce the students to the society and culture of contemporary Finland and to give them an idea of the history and development of Finland.

General description

Lectures ny experts in the fields of e.g. Finnish history, the wellfare state, foreign policy, mass media, information society, technology, innovations, literature, culture, music, art, environmental issues, forestry, business etc. A detailed syllabus of the course will be posted online.

Evaluation criteria

There will be an multiple choice exam at the end of the course. The lectures and the final exam will be worth 3 ECTS credits. Students may take an additional exam based on given material to earn 2 additional ECTS credits.

The course will consist of lectures and online materials.
