Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to provide students with tools for a critical understanding of contemporary global humanitarian governance, understood as the attempt to govern individuals and human collectivities in the name of the preservation of life and the reduction of human suffering. The role and potential of the United Nations (UN) will be discussed and highlighted. After the course, the students are able to critically analyze and understand humanitarianism, global governance, and the role of the UN in global humanitarian governance.
