The course is meant as an advanced course in statistical methods for doctoral students from different faculties. For major students in Statistics, the course fits in intermediate studies.
A population network generated by some "process" is characterized and its key parameters are defined. The problem of sampling from the population network is considered. Certain sampling procedures are adopted to it and relevant data structures are identified. Statistical approach towards inference on the population parameters are developed and discussed.

The course gives an overview of statistics, its importance and use in different fields of science. Basic statistical concepts and descriptive statistics are introduced, as well as an elementary introduction to estimation and hypothesis testing is given. An introduction to a statistical software package is also included.
