BioMediTech

In the beginning of year 2011, the Institute of Biomedical Technology (IBT) was established at the University of Tampere (UTA) through the merge of the Regea Institute for Regenerative Medicine and the Institute of Medical Technology. The new institute maintains a close collaboration with related units at the Tampere University of Technology (TUT). This collaboration is facilitated through BioMediTech, a joint institute of TUT and UTA that brings together a powerful mix of multidisciplinary expertise in life sciences and medical technology. The BioMediTech aims to integrate and strengthen excellence in basic life-science research and teaching but also to create new platforms for discovery and innovation.

IBT is dedicated to excel in basic and translational research in the fields of biomedicine and medical technology. The institute organizes educational programs and events, and together with TUT provides joint education in life sciences and medical technology at the Bachelor and Master of Science level. One of the unique features of the teaching programs is early and active collaboration with the research at IBT.
