Tampere University
Duration of project1.1.2022–31.12.2026

In the MatriPoshan study, we examine dietary intake, physical activity, overweight, mental health, and their associations with the risk of pregnancy complications and weight development during and after pregnancy in a cohort of about 500 urban pregnant women in Kathmandu, Nepal. We also analyse socio-cultural traditions and perceptions associated with diet, physical activity and weight development during and after pregnancy in qualitative studies in Kathmandu. For these studies, we interview pregnant women, their husbands and mothers-in-law, and female community health volunteers.
