Nowadays, imaging sensors appear in variety of applications, such as, photography, surveillance, 3D scene sensing, material analysis. To maximize the efficiency and usefulness of imaging sensors, it is important to understand the underlying principles of image formation, used sensor technologies, and necessary post-processing algorithms on the sensed data. In this course we will make an in-depth analysis of all components present in a camera system together with the image processing algorithm required for generating a desired output image. Topics covered in the course include: Camera image formation, image sensor architectures, performance analysis of an imaging system, camera pipeline modules, and overview of different imaging sensors.
