Deep uncertainty calls for capabilities for not only protecting but also renewing competitive advantage. The course focuses on understanding the concepts of strategic risk and strategic risk management, which is achieved through identifying and understanding risk management as a lens for strategic planning, value creation, competitive advantage as well as for the management of key organizational functions. Key themes and topics addressed include:

- Conceptual evolution from traditional risk management (TRM) to enterprise risk management (ERM) to strategic risk management (SRM)

- Competitive advantage and value creation

- The role of risk management in strategy execution vs. strategic planning

- Assessing uncertainty and complexity

- Strategic risk management as a dynamic capability

- Strategic risk leadership
