The course examines the importance, challenges, and practices of media education in society and education, especially from the perspective of critical literacy. The main areas of the course are
  • the relationship with media and digital technologies, media use and functions in childhood, everyday life, and social participation, and the use of media content in teaching and learning.
  • media education and media literacy: perspectives and objectives of media education, the role of media literacy in society, theories and key concepts of media literacy.
  • online literacy and cognitive safety: theoretical and pedagogical models for assessing the reliability of information, opportunities, and risks associated with the Internet, media effects and defense against harmful information.
  • data, algorithms, artificial intelligence, and their power in childhood and adolescence.
  • media as a learning environment, media ecology.
