This course, combining theory and hands-on practice, will address some of the mainstream qualitative methods used in linguistics, including those with a quantitative twist. We will explore various applications of analysing text and discourse, including content analysis, critical discourse analysis, corpus-assisted discourse analysis, genre analysis and the ethnography of communication. Readings will be provided during the course.
