Sosiaalipsykologian syventävät opinnot (90 op) koostuvat sosiaalipsykologian teorioiden ja tutkimuksen syventävistä opintojaksoista (25 op), tutkimusmetodologia-opinnoista (10 op), työelämään suuntaavista opinnoista (15 op) sekä pro gradu -tutkielmasta ja -seminaarista (40 op).

Objectives

Students who have completed a master’s degree in social sciences with a specialisation in social psychology will be experts on social interaction, group phenomena and the relationship between the individual and society. Their special skills and professional expertise encompass areas such as the self and identity, childhood and family, social interaction in the workplace, digital interaction, psychosocial well-being, guidance and behavioural change, emotions, substance abuse and theoretical and methodological questions in social sciences.

Graduates are familiar with the history of the study of these topics, their current developments and their practical applications. They understand the structures and the dynamics of social and interpersonal relationships. They are able to discover, to analyse, to describe and to produce research data on social phenomena and to apply it in their work. Graduates in social psychology are equipped to work in leadership, expert and counselling roles in social work and mental health, in various roles in education, planning and development, in human resources and in communications in various fields.
