The 20th Interdisciplinary Cerebrovascular Symposium is proud to follow the tradition of its predecessor, the IntraCranial Stent meeting that started as a gathering of clinicians, scientists, engineers, and the industry interested in working together to investigate, develop, and eventually introduce into clinical practice a new concept of treating intracranial vascular diseases, at that time namely intracranial aneurysms.
Following the success of intracranial stents and the concept of flow diversion, what started as an intracranial stent meeting has grown into a meeting fostering discussion between professionals of different backgrounds but with a common interest in cerebrovascular diseases causing hemorrhagic stroke. It is the strong belief of the organizers and the past attendees of the ICS that interdisciplinary interaction is the key to deepening our understanding and the eventual birth of new treatment paradigms for the benefit of our patients.
It is in the spirit of learning together and from each other that I welcome you to Tampere, a city characterized by a history of innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as an in-depth appreciation of the culture of working together.
