The current transformation of medical services to remote care significantly impacts the social domain, delivering high-quality medical services from anywhere. Integrating immersive, i.e., extended reality (XR), systems into healthcare solutions marks a pivotal development. MSc Daria Alekseeva's doctoral dissertation presents approaches to optimizing the performance of XR medical scenarios by effectively applying artificial intelligence (AI).

Immersive scenarios in the medical field include extended reality (XR) assistance during surgeries and medical examinations. In the doctoral dissertation, MSc Daria Alekseeva focuses on the effective utilization of AI techniques to improve the performance of XR-assisted surgery.

"Telemedicine has emerged as an integral component of healthcare solutions. Thus, the XR sector is poised to gain prominence in healthcare, offering diverse applications that promise to redefine patient care and medical practices," says Alekseeva.

Her research explores the current challenges in XR and potential solutions for implementing machine learning (ML) models within communication and computing paradigms relevant to healthcare and emergency services.

"Leveraging immersive and interactive experiences could improve diagnostics, treatment, and overall healthcare services,” she adds.

MSc Daria Alekseeva's doctoral dissertation contains of five papers published in recognized academic venues.
