Mika Kautonen

Mika Kautonen, D.Sc. (Regional Studies), Senior Research Fellow, is head of the Innovation Studies Group and Vice-Director at the Research Centre for Science, Technology and Innovation Studies (TaSTI), Tampere University. He is also an Adjunct Professor in University of Turku, both in Finland.
Mika's interests are related to those research, development and educational activities on innovation that contribute to a sustainable society. His background is in innovation system research. His current research focuses on transformative innovation policy and practice, especially in the Southern African countries such as Namibia and South Africa. With his team, his research aims at generating, besides academic impact, also direct social impacts through extensive collaboration with practitioners such as industrial companies and governmental and non-governmental organizations.
