Olen työskennellyt sosiaalityön professorina Tampereen yliopistossa vuodesta 1998 alkaen. 1.9.2023 alkaen jatkan tehtäviä emerita-roolissa.
Tutkimuskohteet
Tutkimuskiinnostukseni kohdistuu lastensuojeluun. Vuosien mittaan erityisesti huostaanoton ja sijaishuollon teemat ovat olleet keskiössä ja niitä olen tarkastellut erilaisilla kysymyksenasetteluilla, orientaatioilla ja aineistoilla. Lastensuojelun vertaileva tutkimus on ollut yhtenä juonteena. Pitkäaikainen kiinnostus kohdistuu huostaanottoon ja sijaishuoltoon sekä niihin korjausliikkeisiin, joilla pyritään korjaamaan lastensuojelussa nähtyjä ja koettuja virheitä.
