For the sake of my fellows, I will not name any of them, with them we shared pain and suffering, but I will not allow them to be pestered down with questions about what happened to us. It all started when six of us answered to a simple ad on the daily newspaper. It was a bout an apartment downtown, it was considered to be haunted. With my previous experiences I knew it was just some random made up story by the neighbours, so it seemed like easy money.
There were six of us who responded to the ad and the owner of the house wanted all of us on the case. He said he did not care how but we needed to find the reasons behind the mysterious things happening in his apartment so he could rent it. The group could not look more out of place as everyone came from different parts of life. A student, a professor, a hairdresser, me a private investigator, a youngster and a librarian working together to solve mysteries? That doesn’t sound right to me. The owner of the house said that we would get paid daily as long as it took us to work this investigation. He also did not want to talk about what happened in the house that incited the rumours of the neighbours. He just mentioned a murder and disappeared.
I knew where to start, if there was a murder there had to be a police investigation. I planned to visit the police station and try to blend in as most of my job meant acting like a police officer, I was experienced in this. However, my plans failed, and I got caught at the door. Luckily my new friends were lucky with their plans, and they found some information in the library. They found out that there was not only one murder in the apartment. The last tenants were a family of four and the father had some sort of a breakdown and ended up killing the entire family and himself. Before that there was another family died very suspiciously and even though the records started to get fuzzy there were some notes about another family being murdered in the house.
Thinking that we have gathered enough evidence that there was something weird going on in the place, we decided it was time to investigate the apartment ourselves. We were not sure what we would find in the place, but we hoped to at least learn more about why people kept getting murdered in this place.
Getting in was not hard, the door was not locked, and the neighbours were trying to stay away from the place as much as they could. When we got inside, that’s when things got out of control. So far our investigation had been going regularly, but what we saw in the house… That I do not know how to describe. Exploring the place did not go as we planned it to go. We got in one by one, I was the last to get in as I held to door to my fellow investigators. There were four rooms and a kitchen and everywhere was in a huge mess. There was mold growing on walls and almost consuming the cupboards and shelves. Dust covered every item that was left behind in the house. We were not surprised by what we found at first, but the atmosphere seemed to completely change once we all stepped into the house. We tried to ignore the horrid smell in the air and decided to split up and investigate different rooms.
I was one of the first people to leave the group and move on to search a room. I liked working alone, and especially in this horrible place I did not want to be with anyone else, the safety of my gun in my pocket was enough for me. I wanted to explore the late parents’ bedroom. I was hoping to find out more about the reasons behind the man’s breakdown. I was going through a stub of notes I found when I heard the first weird noise. It was like a deep grumbling at first, then it was like a heard of insects running away from something. I stopped and listened and none of the other investigators made a noise outside the room. The weird sound was coming from the wardrobe, and I decided to slowly take out my gun and check out whatever was inside the wardrobe.
I moved inch by inch holding my gun, and with the last courage in my heart, I opened the wardrobe. What I found inside was not what I was expecting. It was something like a beehive, but it seemed to connect to the walls of the house instead of the wardrobe. It broke through the wardrobe at the back and its slimy tentacle like parts seemed to reach towards the middle of the house in between the walls. Even though I hate to admit, I was scared by what I found. What pushed me beyond control was that this thing seemed to move like a heart. I turned back to run but there was a shadow like person next to the door. He almost seemed like he was connected to the walls with the slimy arms of whatever was in the wardrobe. I knew that If I failed to kill it, I had no chance of survival. So I shot it, but failed miserably. All the horrors I have been experiencing has been getting to my nerves and I missed shot after shot as the creepy monster walked towards me. I could not stop its touch, I could not run away.
That was the last thing I remember, I was told that these happened months ago. I woke up in a mental institution without any knowledge of the other five investigators that were with me on that day.
