Many players are sometimes catching themselves thinking of quitting the futuristic or fantasy games for some time. Users tend to be bothered with all these insubstantial and far from reality virtual experiences. They want to diversify their virtual leisure with plausible and realistic projects. At this point I want you to have a look at the game, titled “DayZ”.
It is a survival simulator, comprising the elements of shooter, horror, and possessing an open world. There is no actual plot, but you are able to design your storyline. Moreover, it is multiplayer and players can interact either with their friends or with random people and this interaction is defined by three options: Player versus environment server (PVE), Player versus player server (PVP), and mixed ones. If you want to fight against zombies, struggle with weather, diseases and construct a base without fear it would be raided, PVE is the best option. Wish to add firefights and tactical mind games? Then, try PVP mode.
The final release on Windows happened in 2018, only after five years of early access. However, in my opinion, this game has great potential. It is the most realistic simulator I have ever tested. The map territory is enormous (225 km2) and it is covered with beautiful forests, fields, mountains, and water resources.
The project allows you to shoot, hunt, build and customise your character. Sounds are as genuine as the acoustics from real life and maybe easily mixed up. Abandoned constructions and buildings in former Soviet Union style create an incredible atmosphere for the process of play. It seems to be that this particular game is on the maximum level of realism: use of certain medicines for curing specific diseases, internal paper map orientation (the UI map may not be available), load each cartridge into the magazine, and other innumerable options any player can try. This game is designed for the fans of hard, realistic and atmospheric playful experiences and, as was already mentioned, for the gamers, that want some change from these fantasy projects.
However, as all game projects do, this one also has drawbacks. The simulator is famous among the players for its fabulous and funny bugs. These internal technical troubles has already become a part of gameplay. For example, it is ok to walk through the forest and observe a flying car in the sky or sitting inside some building and marvelling how zombies pass through the walls. Furthermore, the official servers are full of cheaters and lack some crucial in-game objects that are significant in case you want to experience common and proper gameplay.
That is why most of the audience prefers to play on private servers, full of various interesting mods, with a diversity of useful subjects and modified textures. A great improvement for DayZ would be the supplementation of new maps. There are only two official maps now; in general, about five most used locations, including mods.
Therefore, if you are ready to have your gameplay, that is 50% influenced by the technical component of the game, this project is definitely worth testing. Honestly saying, there is a frequent opinion that if the game would be fully repaired and all these issues will be fixed, DayZ will lose amusement and sapid experience.
